Lois R. Zanks, 91, of Poquoson, Virginia passed away on November 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jack Zanks. Born in Carpentersville, New Jersey on September 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George Stamets and Rhoda Reimel Stamets.

Lois was employed as a dental assistant from 1943 to 1948. She was married to the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Jack Zanks in 1948. Together they moved to Hampton and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Hampton. She was a lifelong...

Lois R. Zanks, 91, of Poquoson, Virginia passed away on November 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jack Zanks. Born in Carpentersville, New Jersey on September 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George Stamets and Rhoda Reimel Stamets.

Lois was employed as a dental assistant from 1943 to 1948. She was married to the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Jack Zanks in 1948. Together they moved to Hampton and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Hampton. She was a lifelong member of one of the Women's Circle where she enjoyed often hosting their Christmas gathering. She was a member of the Hampton Yacht Club. After retirement, Jack and Lois wintered in Florida and the Bahamas on their sailboat. Lois always found friends wherever she was. Most recently she enjoyed a wonderful group of friends from the Villas in Poquoson building many fond memories.

Survivors include her children, David Zanks and his wife Marsha of Poquoson, Virginia, Debbie Fisher and her husband Dave Fisher of Poquoson, Virginia, as well as grandchildren, Kristi Woody Parker, Shelby Zanks, Kelly Woody Schmidt, and Brayden Zanks; and great-grandchildren, Rachel Chattin of Clayton North Carolina, and Tristan Parker of Yorktown, Virginia. Also surviving is her sister, Barbara Cappelletti of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. She was predeceased in death by her sisters Grace, Claire, Gertrude, and Arlene and brothers, Ken, George, Richard and Leon Stamets.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, 514 South Armistead Avenue, Hampton. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Hampton Yacht Club, 4707 Victoria Boulevard, Hampton, Virginia.
