Senior Master Sergeant Gayle B. 'Gus' Guthrie, 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born in Morehead City, North Carolina and was a resident of Hampton for 53 years. He was a 28 year veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring from Langley Air Force Base in 1975.

Gayle is survived by his wife, Donna Guthrie; granddaughter, Crystal Deal; step-son, Doug Deal; daughters, Barbara Haverstock, Kathy Williams, and Stacy Guthrie; grandchildren, Kekoa, Robbie, Scott, and Tony; and sisters, Georgia Dickinson and Bertha Guthrie.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, May 19, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family expresses their thanks to Hampton Sentara doctors, nurses, and Palliative Care personnel.
