Charles S. Bryan (aka Charlie, Sonny, Daddy, Opa) beloved husband, father, hunter, fisherman, gardener, bowler, and fixer of all things, died on November 23, 2016. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia and was a resident of Yorktown, Virginia.

Charles served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as MSGT in May 1971 after 22 years of service. He continued his career in the Civil Service in the Dept. of the Army and retired in May 1991. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal Bronze, National Defense Service Medal, and Occupation Medal -...

Charles S. Bryan (aka Charlie, Sonny, Daddy, Opa) beloved husband, father, hunter, fisherman, gardener, bowler, and fixer of all things, died on November 23, 2016. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia and was a resident of Yorktown, Virginia.

Charles served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as MSGT in May 1971 after 22 years of service. He continued his career in the Civil Service in the Dept. of the Army and retired in May 1991. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal Bronze, National Defense Service Medal, and Occupation Medal - Berlin Airlift Device. He was an avid member of the Tidewater German America Society.

Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irmgard; daughters, Elizabeth Tarvin, Gloria Bryan (Doug Bloxom), Christine Soucy (Shawn), and Betty Fish (David); eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Shirley and Patricia. Charles was preceded in death by parents, Stuart and Ruth Bryan and sisters, Mary and Betty.

The family will receive friends 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with a celebration of Charles' life to immediately follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
