Barbara Jean Deaton Humphreys, 67, passed away at home on Sunday, March 29, 2015 with her sons by her side. She was a life-long resident of Hampton and was retired as manager of Friends of the Homeless in Newport News.

Barbara was preceded in rest by her parents, E.C. and Ella Mae Deaton and brother, Eugene Deaton. She is survived by her two sons, Otis Humphreys and soon to be daughter-in-law, Lynne Buggy, and Paul Humphreys; granddaughter, Skyler Humphreys; two brothers, Dexter Deaton (Jane) and Jeff Deaton (Cindy); sister, Betty Hoback (Doug); sister-in-law, Virginia...

Barbara Jean Deaton Humphreys, 67, passed away at home on Sunday, March 29, 2015 with her sons by her side. She was a life-long resident of Hampton and was retired as manager of Friends of the Homeless in Newport News.

Barbara was preceded in rest by her parents, E.C. and Ella Mae Deaton and brother, Eugene Deaton. She is survived by her two sons, Otis Humphreys and soon to be daughter-in-law, Lynne Buggy, and Paul Humphreys; granddaughter, Skyler Humphreys; two brothers, Dexter Deaton (Jane) and Jeff Deaton (Cindy); sister, Betty Hoback (Doug); sister-in-law, Virginia Deaton; first husband and life-long friend, Wayne Humphreys; her loving dog, Ginger; and other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held immediately following at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society.
